Urban Ecology Public Meeting
June 6 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Let’s show City of Atlanta officials Buckhead residents care about our trees!
Public input is essential as the Department of City Planning presents the first draft of a new Tree Protection Ordinance. Comments from Northside residents are encouraged Thursday, June 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta 30327.
Laws protecting Atlanta’s trees have not been updated in almost 20 years. This is a rare window of opportunity to show your support for a stronger Tree Ordinance.
Meetings in all four quadrants of Atlanta take place June 3 – 6.
“City Council is watching closely,” says deLille Anthony, chair, Buckhead Tree Canopy Committee, Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods. “If a large crowd shows up at these meetings, Atlanta leaders will get the message loud and clear that people are ready for a change as development escalates in Buckhead and across the City.” She adds, “About 77% of Atlanta’s tree canopy is on single family lots which is why residential properties must be protected.”
